Public Education for school aged children broke the link between parental levels of education and income and their children's futures. The future of this country is with our children and investing in the education of all children will help improve the lives and economic fortunes of our community.
Too many families in our community do not have the resources to cover the current cost of living such as housing, child care, health care and food. Supporting job creation with livable wages to boost earnings, working to reinstate housing programs, and investing in a stronger child care system and workforce are a few of the ways that local government may help with the cost of living.
Small independently owned businesses have built this country, making up 99% of the businesses and they are the backbone of the local economy. Helping small businesses survive and thrive by lowering the costs of getting into business, and of doing business, as well as helping to find funding for sufficient capital to continue operating, and training for cash flow management and business acumen should be part of a local government responsibility.
